Peter Miller has spent his career helping build entrepreneurial companies in new markets and new technologies. He has a track record of spotting trends and successful implementation.
He did his undergraduate work at MIT. While working on his master’s degree at the Sloan School, he was a founding member of Abt Associates Inc, and over a period of 17 years worked as COO and Board member as the company grew from 3 people to 800. Abt is a $200 million firm working in fields such as health care research and policy, clinical trials, and survey research.
He has been a long-term strategic advisor to firms facing a variety of transitional events (external or internal), entering new markets, and facing choices around mergers/acquisitions/going public. He has helped build and position a number of successful companies in software and professional services including SNAP Software, sold to Dun & Bradstreet, Waterfield Technology Group, sold to Whitman Hart, and Molecular Inc., sold to the Aegis Group, PLC. He was a member of the Commercial Advisory Board of Metabolix, Inc., before and during its successful IPO in 2006.
Peter has successfully worked with firms raising money multiple times, both as an employee and as a business plan quarterback, and has been involved in M/A activities on the buy and sell sides. He has been a licensed (NASD) broker/dealer. He has served on a number of boards of directors of innovative companies.
Peter is currently COO of Genomic Healthcare Strategies, a new firm focusing on personalized medicine and is a frequent invited speaker on the changing healthcare landscape.
He also works to give back, as the former Board Chairman of the International MIT Enterprise Forum, a past board member of the MIT Alumni Association, and helping fledgling startups currently as Co-Director of the MIT Venture Mentoring Service. |
