Steve has helped build some of the most successful companies to emerge from the fertile intersection of science and information technology in the areas of molecular modeling, combinatorial chemistry, bioinformatics and statistics.

As Vice President of Business Development for Cytel Software Corporation, Steve assisted the company to build its commercial presence in the flexible clinical trial design space.

As President and CEO of OmniViz, a bioinformatics company whose advanced visual informatics software is sold in the drug discovery and healthcare markets, Steve raised funding and guided OmniViz to $5m in sales. He also co-founded Manifest Technology, which employs RFID technology and software, helping to secure the first major client, Edwards Life Sciences, and the first outside equity investment.

In the 1990s, Steve was instrumental in building Accelrys, where he was a Senior Vice President. Under his sales & marketing leadership, Accelrys became the industry's fastest growing and most prominent supplier of software and services that accelerate the drug discovery and chemical development process, with annual revenues exceeding $100 million. While at Accelrys, Steve led the post-merger integration of six companies with uninterrupted sales growth and helped transition the company to public ownership in 1998 creating $2.6bn of shareholder value.
Through his company Torran Group Steve has enabled several successful start-ups and reorganizations and has assisted in technology transfer from academic to commercial environment. Clients have included Original Thinking Group, MolySym, Tufts University spin-out IST, AnVil, OpenText (OTEX, NASDAQ), Oxford Glycosciences (now CCH, London), Northeastern University, The BioTeam, DiagnosisOne, Key Commerce and Positive Image.

Steve graduated with a B.A. honors degree in Biology from the University of York, England. He holds a graduate certificate in Administration & Management from Harvard University.
