Fred Meyer, PhD, CFA

Fred has over eleven years experience in life science finance including seven years in investment banking. His scientific background in molecular biology and economic/financial perspective have made him an enthusiastic proponent of the potential for companion molecular diagnostics for pharmaceuticals to create new profitable products while also aiding in the diagnosis of disease, improving outcomes for patients and lowering healthcare costs.

Fred contributes to GHS projects which benefit from his broad background in discovering how companies can best take advantage of their technology to create products and then determining which product opportunities offer the greatest return to risk ratio. He excels at creating credible product and company valuations in addition to market and financial models to guide decision making and negotiations. Models are built on in-depth analyses of market opportunities, competition, and product development costs. To create models that relate to the real-world environment of client projects, these models reflect the variable characteristics of life science subsectors such as differing product development timing and appetite for investment.

In 2008, he assisted a molecular diagnostics venture to broadly re-position for partnering and fund raising. He was previously employed at two investments banks; Apeiron Partners for six years and Needham & Company for one year. Fred started his career in a business and corporate development role for portfolio companies at Schooner Capital for over three years. Work experience includes projects in a broad range of diagnostic, device and therapeutic areas, including numerous cancers, infectious diseases, sepsis/anti-coagulants, GI, and cardiovascular diseases.

Fred earned his doctorate from Ohio State University in Molecular Genetics and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. The CFA program is a challenging series of three exams designed to build a solid foundation in financial theory and investors recognize the CFA designation as the definitive standard for measuring competence in investment analysis.
